New Biometrics Again Required for ALL Applicants for Permanent Residence

Updated: Mar 6

Who:

All foreign nationals applying for permanent residence

In Force:

June 14, 2023

On June 14, 2023, the COVID-19 public policy exempting foreign nationals who had previously provided biometrics from having to provide new biometrics in support of their application for permanent residence was cancelled.

If they require biometrics, foreign nationals applying for permanent residence on or after June 14, 2023 must pay the biometric fee at the time of their application and complete biometrics once they are requested by IRCC.

Foreign nationals who submitted their applications for permanent residence prior to June 14, 2023, will not have to submit new biometrics as the former public policy will continue to apply.
